St. Joseph

Today the Church honors St. Joseph, the husband of Mary, the one who helped Mary raise and educate Jesus, the one who taught Jesus the tools of his trade, that of carpenter and builder.

Pope Francis said of him: “St. Joseph reminds us that those who appear hidden or in the shadows can play an incomparable role in the history of salvation.”

Joseph is an example to us of someone who overcame his doubts and hesitations to say yes to what God was asking of him, displaying a trust that the Spirit of God would be with him.

We pray today through the intercession of St. Joseph that we too trust that God’s Spirit will always be with us and work through us to accomplish God’s work of salvation.

“Well done, good and faithful servant. Come, share your master’s joy.” (Matthew 25:21)
