Sometimes it’s hard to feel God’s love, especially when life is difficult, or we’re facing challenges. But Jesus tells us in the gospel, “As the Father loves me, so I love you.” Let that soak in. It’s meant to be heartfelt.
Jesus gives us the Holy Spirit. We’re to use that Spirit to bring that love to others. God’s love is a generative love, a love that reaches out in a life-giving way. How can we be life-giving to others? The inflowing of love leads to the outflowing of love. That is true spiritual freedom.
The love that Jesus offers leads to freedom, peace, and joy. Jesus said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy might be complete.” The joy that Jesus brings is deeper than happiness. It drains out fear, and it brings us hope and peace. Savor that experience.
God invites us to be part of the divine plan to love the world and to experience the fulness of life. May God continue to walk with us and show us the way.
“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also must love one another.” (I John 4:11)

So true, but so hard to remember when life is spinning me ’round and ’round. Can I stop the merry-go-round for a while, please?
