New creation

Paul in his letter to the Romans speaks of new life through death, where through Baptism we enter into the mystery of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. But what does it mean to die with Christ? It has to be more than symbolic, if it is to have any practical meaning for us.

The dying is a dying to all that is sinful, a repudiation of the power of sin that has dominated so many people over the course of history. One need only to consider the daily news to see the results of sin: the prejudices, hostilities, and injustices that are always at work in our world.

Christ has broken through that power and shares that freedom, that new life, with us; and he calls us to live that new life of love and fidelity and to become a new creation in him and with each other, to let go of whatever still enslaves us and limits our generous response to God’s call. It’s only when we let go that we can advance.

Through our Baptism we have cast our lot with Jesus to choose renewal, resurrection, and healing. May you experience new life in Christ, and may your journey with the Lord be blessed.

“You too must think of yourselves as dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 6-11)

Vibrant pics, as per usual, Father. I love them! The message is good too; to die to self and live only in Jesus! What joy!
