Endings and gratitude

As we approach the end of this year, I find myself reflecting on my experiences of the past year, particularly my process of discernment and the new assignment it led to, how the Holy Spirit was at work within me during this process.

I find that these reflections engender within me a gratitude for the blessings of the past year: freedom from serious illness, new ministry, reconnecting with friends of years ago, realizing when it is time to move on and acting on it.

May the resiliency many of us have shown in navigating the choppy waters of the pandemic over these past two years continue to help us find our way to a renewed sense of value and an appreciation for our blessings and the presence of the Christ in our life. May Christ be born anew in us each day.

The photos gathered here represent some of my work during the last week of the year.

“Let us all rejoice in the Lord, for our Savior has been born in the world. Today true peace has come down to us from heaven.” (Entrance antiphon from the Christmas Mass at night)
