On January 1 the Church celebrates the solemnity of Mary, the holy mother of God.
This young mother could not have known what the future would bring, but she generously said yes to what God was asking of her.
As we face uncertain times in our Church, in our country, and in our world, we turn to Mary as an example of faith and trust that God continues to be with us, perhaps in ways unknown before, in ways unexpected in the future; faith in Emmanuel, “God is with us.”
May 2020 be a year of peace and prosperity for all God’s children. May we continue to seek for signs of God’s presence in our life and be generous in responding to God’s call. Happy New Year!
“Then Mary said, ‘Here I am, the servant of the Lord; let it be with me according to your word.'” (Luke 1:38)
