I’ve been intending for a while now to do some waterfall photography, using a tripod and long exposure to create a dreamy, milky effect in the water. There is something attractive about the power and grace of water as it cascades and tumbles over rocks and precipices. I recently had the opportunity to make some images of a series of waterfalls not too far from home.
Living by the ocean is a constant reminder of water’s presence in my life. It is something I often take for granted because it is so plentiful, but it is something neither you nor I could live without.
Awareness is the beginning of devotion, and as I reflect, not only on water, but also on the other aspects of life I depend on and value, I am filled with gratitude for an awareness of the world around me and for all things that are life-giving. A lesson that I take from the waterfall is that we too are called to live powerfully and gracefully.
“Whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:14)
“called to live powerfully and gracefully” — wow.. never thought of it that way. Beautiful photography as always.

Through your lens, you invite us into God’s beauty, and make us hunger for his creation. What will we see? discover? Where are these amazing waterfalls that are cascading through your images?
