Through art we reveal what’s important to us, what moves us, what speaks to our soul. Whether it’s the art of music, painting, sculpture, poetry, photography, or some other art form, we make a connection between the outer observable world and the inner world of our experiences and values.
I’ve always been attracted to the world of the outdoors. As a boy, I enjoyed staying outside and playing various sports with the neighborhood kids or simply exploring the area with friends. Later on I came to enjoy nature through travel, especially on ski trips which took me to some fantastic mountain vistas and on cruises which took me to exotic places. Summer trips to the shore were also a source of beautiful scenery, and they continue to attract me.
This fascination with nature is reflected in my photos–in both landscape and macro images. Creation continues to call me to experience and respond to the beauty all around me. I’m drawn to interpret my experiences through my camera and to share those images with others, much in the way a poet tries to convey an experience through words. Photography is a way for me to be present to God’s creation and in my images to offer that experience to others.
“The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want. In verdant pastures he gives me repose. Besides restful waters he leads me. He refreshes my soul.” (Psalm 23:1-3)
What beautiful photos!
