The metanoia or repentance that John the Baptist preached was a call to a change of heart, a change of perspective, that we judge things more as Jesus would judge them.
We often experience this call to new life as desire. We’ve all felt that experience of desiring a greater good. Sometimes it’s in outreach to those in need. Sometimes it’s lending a helping hand. Sometimes it’s simply spending time with someone who’s hurting.
That desire is the Lord calling us forward. Maybe there’s something you’ve wanted to do for a while, but haven’t had the time or opportunity. That could be God inviting you to a greater realization of your gifts and talents–to experience more fully the Kingdom of God here and now.
As Jesus said, “This is the time of fulfillment.” He’s not looking simply to our fulfillment in the next life, but the beginning of a fuller life in the Spirit now. Gospel values show us the way.
“The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel.” (Mark 1:15)

Beautiful as always!
