A collision of opposites

The spiritual writer and Franciscan priest, Richard Rohr, in his book “Falling Upward,” speaks to the dying and rising that is part of our experience. He says, “Life is not, nor ever has been, a straight line forward…Life is characterized much more by exception and disorder than by total or perfect order. Life, as the biblical tradition makes clear, is both loss and renewal, death and resurrection, chaos and healing at the same time; life seems to be a collision of opposites.”

Through our Baptism we have cast our lot with Jesus to choose renewal, resurrection, and healing.

The Scriptures hammer home the message again and again: we are called to a life of loving relationships with others and with all of creation, a life of renewal and healing, a life that extends from now to eternity. It’s good to keep reminding ourselves of that, which is a good reason for regular prayer and reflection on the Scriptures.

The Scriptures invite us to go farther and deeper in our journey with the Lord and to open ourselves more and more to his great love for us. May you experience new life in Christ, and may your journey now and into the future with the Lord be blessed.

“Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” (from the Communion rite at Mass)

So beautiful! I especially love the pic of the road leading down and the sunset. Life certainly is a collision of opposites! It can be beautiful or it can be painful. The choice to hate vs. the choice of forgiveness and love. The choice to kill or the choice for life. If only we all would choose love and life!
