Prophets are those people who spread God’s word to others, often in challenging times. God says in Deuteronomy, “I will raise up for them a prophet from among their kin, and I will put my words into his mouth; he shall tell them all that I command him.”
Who are the prophets who speak God’s word to you? Who are the ones who show you by word and action what it means to love God and to be loved by God? These are the people we should thank God for.
For us Christians it is Jesus who has final authority over our lives, who calls us to live righteously, who influences our conscience in affecting how we live our lives, who gives us a perspective on our world and helps us to seek the good and reject the evil.
We are blessed to have ancient and modern-day prophets who show us the way to God through their words and deeds. May we open our eyes and hearts to see and embrace God’s loving presence in our life each and every day.
“Save us, O Lord our God! And gather us from the nations, to give thanks to your holy name, and make it our glory to praise you.” (Psalm 106:47)
